What makes SOSitter different from other care apps?

SOSitter brings three kinds of care into one platform: child care, pet care, and senior companion care. A few things set the platform apart. SOS booking confirms emergency care within 48 hours, real-time geo-tracking shows the caregiver’s live location from arrival to departure, and the caregiver community is built around the idea that care is a calling, not a side job. Free subscriptions are available for families in financial hardship, so trusted care is accessible regardless of budget.

SOSitter caregivers are independent providers from your local community who see caregiving as a calling rather than a side hustle. Each caregiver builds their own profile with the experience, photos, and credentials they choose to share. Caregivers who complete the optional verification or background screening process are marked on their profile. Real ratings and reviews from past bookings give every caregiver a public track record that grows over time, so families can evaluate caregivers on substance, not promises.

Yes. SOSitter offers a limited number of free subscriptions each month for families experiencing financial hardship, single-parent households, and other qualifying circumstances. Apply through the SOSitter website and the team personally reviews every application, with a response within 3 to 5 business days. Free subscriptions are awarded on a rolling basis as a new cycle opens each month. Caregivers can also create and maintain a SOSitter account for free. Standard family subscriptions are $25 monthly, $65 quarterly, or $150 annually.

SOSitter is not tied to any specific religious tradition and welcomes families and caregivers of every background and faith. The platform is built on the founding belief that caregiving is a calling rooted in love, trust, and community, values that resonate with many people of faith and many who hold no religious affiliation at all. Caregivers are free to share their values, traditions, and preferences on their profile, and families are free to choose caregivers whose worldview aligns with theirs.

How old do caregivers need to be?

Independent caregivers on SOSitter must be at least 18 years old. Age is confirmed at registration as part of the eligibility requirements set out in the SOSitter Terms of Service. Caregivers also confirm that they have the legal authority to provide the care services they list on their profile.

Yes. Anyone creating a family account on SOSitter to book care must be at least 18 years old and have the legal authority to enter into a service agreement on behalf of the household. Minors cannot independently create accounts or book caregivers on the platform.

SOSitter accepts independent caregiver registrations only from people aged 18 and older, so teenagers under 18 cannot register as caregivers on the platform. Families who want to hire a teen babysitter from their own neighborhood are free to do so through their own arrangement, but the SOSitter matching, profiles, and booking tools serve adult caregivers only.

There is no platform-wide minimum age for children being booked through SOSitter. Caregivers list the age ranges they are comfortable working with on their profiles, which can include infants, toddlers, school-age children, and teens. Families can filter caregivers by age experience to find someone whose background fits the specific needs of the child being cared for.

What is an SOS booking?

An SOS booking is SOSitter’s emergency booking option for last-minute care. Instead of the standard scheduling flow, an SOS booking is routed to nearby caregivers right away with the goal of confirming care within 48 hours. The feature exists for the moments when life moves faster than the calendar: a sudden work shift, a sick day, a family emergency, or a last-minute change of plans.

SOSitter’s real-time geo-tracking shows the caregiver’s live location from departure to arrival, so families know exactly when help is on the way. Location is shared only when permission is granted and only during an active booking. You can turn off location access through your device settings at any time, and SOSitter does not sell or share your location data with advertisers. Full details are available in the SOSitter Privacy Policy.

SOSitter is a marketplace that connects families with independent caregivers. Caregivers can complete an optional verification or background screening process, and those who do are marked on their profile so families can see their verification status at a glance. SOSitter does not independently verify every claim made by every caregiver, and the platform is not a substitute for your own evaluation. Families are responsible for reviewing each caregiver’s profile, ratings, references, and credentials before booking, and can request a background check directly from a caregiver at any time during evaluation. Full details are available in the SOSitter Terms of Service.
